    今天，在纽约这座最古老的圣约翰大教堂里，我们正在共同见证一件盛事：“中国教会圣经事工展”在这里揭幕。
    就是在若干年前，如果有人说中国教会正在源源不断地印刷着圣经，然后用火车、汽车送到各地教会，甚至用最原始的独轮车送到深山老林里的教堂，大概许多美国朋友像听天方夜谭一样难以置信。他们得到的信息是，中国基督徒的手里缺乏圣经！
    同样在若干年前，中国的教会人士反复思考一个问题，用什么方式告诉美国朋友这样的事实：中国教会印制了大量圣经，而且可以用更低廉的价格供应基督徒。但当时如果有人提出到美国去办圣经事工展，肯定会被认为这是一个很离奇的想法。
    但是，奇迹还是发生了。“中国基督教圣经事工展”来到了美国，从洛杉矶、亚特兰大到纽约，许多美国朋友从这个展览中获得了大量来自中国教会的真实信息。这是中美两国教会联手打造的杰作，必将载入中美两国教会友好交流的史册。
    借此机会，对所有为举办这个展览付出心血的中美两国教会人士，表达我深深的敬意。
    最后我要重申，中国国家宗教事务局以及我本人，将一如继往地支持中国教会同美国教会开展友好交流和真诚合作。

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today, in the most historical Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine of New York, we gather to witness a marvelous event. The Chinese church is holding the Bible Ministry Exhibition here.

Several years ago, if someone said that the Chinese Church is continuously publishing the Bible and distributing them to churches all over China by train or truck, or even by the primitive monocycles to the remote churches in the forested mountain areas, many American friends would feel it hard to believe, which sounds like a fairy tale. What they knew is that the Chinese Christians did not have enough copies of the Bible at hand.

Correspondingly, several years ago, the Chinese church leaders were thinking over a question again and again. How could they share with American friends such a fact that the Chinese Church has been publishing a large number of Bibles and distributing to Christians at an even lower price. At that time, if someone suggested that a Bible Ministry Exhibition be held in U.S, it would have been an uncanny idea.

However, a miracle has happened. The Bible Ministry Exhibition of the Church in China came to America, on its journey from Los Angeles to Atlanta and finally to New York. Many American friends come to learn a great deal of true information about the Chinese Church. This is indeed a masterpiece made by both Chinese and American churches. It will be recorded in the history of Sino-U.S church exchanges.

Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my sincere thankfulness to both Chinese and American Christian friends. Your great joint efforts make this exhibition possible.

Finally, I want to restate that, I myself as well as the State Administration for Religious Affairs of China, will, as always, support the friendly exchange and sincere cooperation between churches in our two nations.
